Box Substation Air Conditioner: Cooling the Compact Transformer Enclosure

A box-type substation (箱式变电站 / box substation) integrates transformer, HV/LV switchgear and controls in one factory-built cabin. The transformer chamber runs hot, and in a sealed enclosure that heat must be managed actively: this is where a box substation air conditioner comes in.

Where the heat comes from

Cooling the substation enclosure

An HCK cabinet air conditioner mounted on the transformer or LV chamber provides sealed cooling (3000-7500 W, IP54+, R410A, rotary compressor) so internal temperature stays in range. RS485/Modbus reports temperature and alarms to the substation controller, and the unit is validated for -40C to 55C duty.

Delivery and customization

HCK pairs the AC with S11/S13/SHB15 oil-immersed and SCB10/SCB11 dry-type transformers, and customizes voltage level, protection and enclosure per project. OEM/ODM with 1-unit MOQ and a proposal within 48 hours.

FAQ

Which chamber should the AC cool?

Usually the transformer chamber (hottest). If the LV chamber also runs warm, add a second unit; HCK sizes both from your load and site data.

Can it handle coastal or dusty sites?

Yes. Specify IP54+ with anti-corrosion treatment; HCK validates the unit for -40C to 55C outdoor duty.
