Where Condensate Comes From
During cooling, the evaporator coil drops below the dew point of the enclosure air, so moisture condenses on the fins and collects in the drain pan at the base of the unit. This is normal—the key is removing it promptly.
Standard Drain Path
- The drain pan collects condensate;
- A sloped drain hose routes it outside or to a central pan;
- Where no drain is available, an evaporation tray vaporizes the water on site.
| Item | Typical | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Pan capacity | ≥ 200 mL | Covers peaks |
| Hose bore | ≥ DN10 | Anti-clog |
| Tray power | 40–80 W | Optional |
Overflow Protection
Proper units add a float switch and overflow port as a double safeguard, with an anti-mold coating on the pan. See our products page for selection, or contact us for custom needs.
Routine Checks
- Inspect the drain hose monthly for clog or kink;
- Check the pan for dust or algae buildup;
- Shorten the interval in high-humidity sites.
