Cabinet AC at High Altitude? How to Derate

On plateau projects (Tibet, Andes, highlands), enclosures still need 7×24 non-over-temp — but cooling power drops with altitude.

1. Why capacity drops

Higher altitude means lower air density (worse condenser heat rejection) and changed compressor pressure ratio, lowering volumetric efficiency. Typically ~5–10% capacity loss per 1000m, depending on model.

2. Derating table

FAQ

Does a cabinet AC need derating at altitude?

Yes. ~5–10% capacity loss per 1000m; add margin or customize fan and refrigerant charge.

Usable above 3000m?

Yes. HCK customizes motor/fan and refrigerant for stable 2000–4000m duty.

What to watch in altitude sizing?

Apply derating factor, enlarge unit/condenser, keep margin, confirm wide-temp start.
