Condensate Source and Risk
During cooling the return-air dew point above coil temperature causes condensation; coastal humid cabins can make 8–15 L/day per unit. Overflow shorts controls and corrodes equipment, so zero spillage is required.
Detection and Drainage
- Drain pan sloped 1–2° with a trap to block odour backflow; float switch monitors high level.
- Water leak cable laid along the cabin floor reports location on break/conductance.
- Condensate pump with high-level alarm; critical sites use primary+backup pumps, gravity drain on power loss.
