Box Substation & Transformer for Cold Climates

Haocheng configures box substations and power transformers for cold-climate duty - low-temperature materials, cold start capability, anti-condensation heating and snow and ice protection - for Russia and CIS projects.

Engineered for Low Ambient Temperatures

Cold-climate projects must contend with extreme low ambient temperature, cold start after long idle periods, snow and ice loading, and condensation during temperature swings. Haocheng box substations and transformers (S11/S13/SHB15/SCB10/SCB11) are specified for these conditions.

Box Substation & Transformer for Cold Climates

Cold-Climate Conditions We Design For

Extreme low temperature

Ambient down to -40C and below (to -60C on request); low-temperature-resistant steels and sealing materials are specified.

Cold start

Units are prepared for energisation after prolonged idle periods in low ambient, with cold-start review of oil viscosity and auxiliary circuits.

Snow and ice

Enclosure roof loading, snow shedding and ice protection for doors, louvres and cable entries.

Condensation control

Anti-condensation heaters and ventilation strategy to limit internal moisture during temperature swings.

Recommended Configuration

Enclosure

Insulated steel enclosure rated IP54+ with snow and ice protection and anti-condensation heating where required.

Transformer type

Oil-immersed S11/S13 with low-temperature oil specification; dry-type SCB10/SCB11 for heated indoor rooms.

Ratings

50-2500 kVA with 6/10 kV or 10/20 kV input; common output 400V at 50Hz, configurable per project.

Switchgear

KYN28A-12 / HXGN HV chambers and GCK/GCS/MNS LV distribution per the single-line diagram.

Standards and Documentation

Equipment is supplied to IEC standards with CE marked and CCC. Export documentation is provided, and we support Eurasian conformity work (EAC / GOST frameworks) with the technical file, test reports and documentation required by the destination authority. Share your project parameters for selection.

What ambient range is covered?

Standard design covers -25C to +40C; cold-climate execution extends operation to -40C and, on request, to -60C with appropriate materials.

How is cold start handled?

Cold-start review covers oil viscosity, auxiliary circuits and Protection settings so the unit can be energised after long idle periods in low ambient.

Oil-immersed or dry-type in cold areas?

Oil-immersed S11/S13 with low-temperature oil suits outdoor substations; dry-type SCB10/SCB11 suits heated indoor rooms.

How is condensation controlled?

Anti-condensation heaters with a controlled ventilation strategy limit internal moisture during temperature swings.

What documents are supplied?

IEC-based test reports, CE marked and CCC documentation, export documents, plus technical file support for EAC / GOST conformity.
